About Faraway Up Close

In 2004, the Irish Government spent 475 million Euros on development assistant to some of the poorest countries on the planet.

'Faraway Up Close' is a new series on RTÉ Television, which provides a glimpse into some of these countries and the issues they face, and looks at how the Irish Government is providing assistance. Each week, presenter Keelin Shanley engages with the countries, the issues and the human stories that lie behind them, in order to allow us to see some places where Irish tax-payers money is being spent on Aid.
