About Faraway Up Close

In 2007, The Irish Government will spend €815 million on development assistance to some of the poorest countries in the world.

'Faraway Up Close', now in its second series on RTÉ Television, provides a glimpse into some of these countries and the issues that they face, and looks at how the Irish Government is providing assistance.

Each week, presenter Aoife Kavanagh (Keelin Shanley presented series I) engages with the countries, the issues and the human stories that lie behind them, in order to allow us to see some places where Irish tax-payers money is being spent on aid.
